Did you wind up with a quartz watch?

I have a friend who tries to sell me a watch. He says it's an antique Elgin pocket watch, but says it is a quartz watch. I have not seen it but said it should be put into liquidation. Is it perhaps wrong in saying that it is quartz? Have they ever made a quartz watch that winded up is that something you had to to watch with mechanical movements?

The coil is something you do with mechanical movements. Quartz movements are executed on a small battery. It may be misled by the button on the watch that is used to set the correct time. You can tell if you see the look work. A quartz watch will advance the second hand by a second step. A mechanical watch does not tick and advance the second hand 3 to 6 steps per second.
