dollar gold hoop for the chain?
My grandmother has one dollar gold piece 1853 in excellent condition (with a hoop over cpoin to accommodate the chain. It was a necklace. She believes that gold could be made this way but I do not think so. I checked ebay and can not find the hoop with chain, perhaps because I do not know the right term to use. Does anyone know what whatsoever on this? If this arch was set after the strike is the limit value to the gold content? Any help is appreciated.
