how much for a 80 years old Elgin pocket watch worth?

im just looking rough estimate, its about 1930-1915 when it was done. Was just to give me my great uncle who was also given by his father. no longer works, but isn't this bad condition, it has some wear. It is also a silver medal at the outside, if someone has an educated guess?

How much does it worth depends largely on the quality of movement, and to a lesser extent, the material that the case is made of. Also, the size of the watch is fairly important, and the situation is very important. Elgin began making watches in 1864, and U.S. factory closed in 1964. Currently, they have produced in the neighborhood of 55 million watches. Most of these were relatively low grade, but Elgin High excellent ground motions. The basic track-of-the mill 7-15 jewel, 18, 16 or 12 size in a movement unadjusted silveroid Plain (silver) or metal base case is $ 50 or maybe $ 75 (in a good day) if it is open. Broken, it's a stretch to get $ 30 for one. On the other side of the coin, however, a 16 size BW Raymond with a high-low indicator of wind is worth thousands. 15-17 A jewel movement adjusted in 16 or 18 size of a strong movement at mid-year, which is also quite common, will sell for perhaps $ 100-150 nice gold-filled case. Most BW Raymonds, who are all approved by rail, bring around $ 200-500, again depending on the details. If you view the serial number off the movement here, I can tell you a lot more about what degree the movement and give a ball to better estimate the value of the park. One thing other case material does have some impact. Most of the "silver" watch cases are silver nickel, which is an alloy of nickel and copper for most without real money. Stainless steel was popular in on the 1930 is virtually indestructible, like silver, nickel, but has the advantage of not tarnish. Many economic affairs from 1920s were the base metal, usually chrome-plated brass. These cases are usually just the word "metal" inside back cover. Finally, there are cases in solid gold. Solid white gold is rare, but it exists. In general, cases of base metal are valued at less then silver nickel, and then filled with gold and silver medal at last and gold. A case of silver coins will add a small premium to the value of the watch. Gold adds a huge premium in most cases, the case itself is worth a watch.
