What else should I use for outdoor portrait / fashion?

Ok, well I currently have a Canon 400D and a silver reflector. What should I use for outdoor portraits / fashion? I can not really afford lighting equipment or a lens (I am still a student in school!) Would my tripod to make a difference?

Fill flash with the pop up is always good, but the speed Shuut be limited to 1/200th of a second. , To be careful not to overexpose your background, make sure you have something solid there provide some consistancey. No open or something like that. Nothing very reflective light. A gold reflector will heat up the picture up too. Tripod will not help you a lot of light for outdoor photography, so shutter speeds will very quickly. It also requires a solid understanding of DOF so you can get this background blur you are looking at the kit lens you use.
