how to stop my dog from destroying anything that moves (kitten, chicken...)?
One of my dog loves to chase anything that moves, thinking it has to be hers. She has recently "rough up" my daughter's 5 weeks old kitty, who died not long after the incident. I wanted to chain her for a couple of hours to teach her a lesson, but I have heard, that in Georgia (USA), it is against the law to do so. And I don't believe in beaten the crap out of her. Beside the fact that she is rough with moving creatures, she is a very good watch dog, and a good girl to us ( I know, sounds contradictory) Any suggestions to "punish" her?
What breed of dog is she? The simple fact of the matter is that she may have an overly high prey drive - which is typical of Shepherds, Huskies, Malamutes, etc. Keep the dog on a leash and don't bother getting small animals in the house.
FYI the 5 week old kitten may have died because it was too young to be away from its mother in addition to being roughed up by the dog.
Cesar Millan (the Dog Whisperer) has a web site...Google it and see what he says. You need a professional to deal with this. Dogs that attack and kill small animals occasionally move up to larger animals and eventually people.
