How strong a force is a magnetic field have on metal when it crosses the field?
When the non-magnetic metal (like a plate with fins) through a magnetic field there is a resistance that slows the plate, I wonder how strong that resistance is and how you analyze this force.
It is eddy current damping and is proportional to the speed of movement of the plate. Basically, the plateau is a series of coils shorted that generate traffic flows that produce magnetic fields opposing the motion, not unlike a generator short-circuit. Since the current increases as the conductivity of the plate does not, it is particularly noticeable with thick plates of copper and aluminum. (You do not want to magnetic materials such as iron, because the magnetic force to interfere with the isolation and sense the damping force.) When the damping force is proportional to the speed it is often called viscous damping, which is just how it feels like the plate is submerged in honey. The two references below provide formulas that can be summarized as follows: F = Vol * VB ^ 2σ, where Vol is the volume of material that is in the magnetic field, v is velocity, B is the magnetic field and σ is the conductivity of the material density (inverse the volume resistivity).
