if there is no law that says you have to pay federal income tax why do you still get arrested if you dont?

i was watching the zeitgeste and it was saying there is no law that says you have to pay and it is says that not ONE CENT....not ONE CENT AT ALLL goes to the government that all if the money you pay goes to the federal reserve bankers pockets. sooo wheere is the law that says you have to ?

Zeitgeist is as much of a documentary as Snow White. There are laws that have been passed by Congress that impose a federal income tax on citizens and residents of all of the 50 states. A good explanation can be found at http://docs.law.gwu.edu/facweb/jsiegel/Personal/taxes/JustNoLaw.htm

The income tax revenue goes into the general fund for the U.S. Treasury. It is from there that the U.S. Treasury pays the bills of the U.S. Government. One of those bills is the interest on the debt. The interest on the debt only amounts to a portion of the total collected income tax.

The belief that all income tax revenue only goes to the Federal Reserve is a MYTH. It comes from a misunderstanding of a report done in the early 80s for President Reagan called the Grace Commission report. First, a person reading that report has to understand that the interest RATE on the federal debt was much higher than it is today. Therefore, a smaller debt actually created a greater interest amount payable. Second, a person has to READ and COMPREHEND what the Grace Commission actually said in the report. Basically, the Grace Commission concluded that 1/3 of income tax revenue went to interest on the debt. Another 1/3 was wasted in government bureaucracy and the other 1/3 was never collected. That was why the commission said that none of the income tax paid for any viable government services.

Even though 1/3 of the income tax revenue went to pay interest on the debt, very little of that went to the Federal Reserve. That is because the Federal Reserve holds only a portion of the U.S. Government debt. The rest of the debt is held by governments, private individuals, and institutional investors (mutual funds, etc.). It is to those holders that the interest is paid.

Even though the Federal Reserve does currently hold more than $1 trillion in U.S. Government debt, it is actually a good thing for the U.S. Government. Why? Because, as required by law, the Federal Reserve pays its net earnings to the U.S. Treasury every year.
